We would like to take this opportunity to thank Genentech for their support of Retina Today in 2007 via an unrestricted educational grant. Without their support, we would not have been able to provide the retina community with this important educational forum.
As we set our sights on 2008, Retina Today, via the leadership and direction of Chief Medical Editor Allen C. Ho, MD, and Associate Medical Editor Robert L. Avery, MD, will be expanding its editorial coverage. We will be adding a number of new sections including "The Business of Retina," "Retina Tips and Pearls," and "ASC's: What You Really Need to Know." Additionally, we will have a section authored by retina fellows in each and every issue—providing a great forum for discussion among these surgeons who are the future of the retina field. We will continue to include many of your favorite topic areas, including medical retina, retinal surgery, retinal imaging, pediatric retina, among others.
The publication will have a global reach, providing insight and expertise from retina specialists around the world. We will continue to bring you timely coverage of scientific sessions, along with in-depth articles authored by key opinion leaders in the field.
We have also made the decision to provide industry with the opportunity to advertise within the pages of Retina Today. I do want to emphasize that we will not disrupt the editorial flow of the publication by including advertisements and inserts on every other page. We all know how frustrating it can be to jump all over the publication to simply finish reading an article.
Additionally, Retina Today is excited to introduce EyeTube (www.eyetube.net), a cutting-edge educational Web site that provides surgeons with instructional videos on all aspects of cataract, refractive, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal surgery. Video recordings of ophthalmic symposia are also available. All of the videos posted are organized by topic and include an audio track to assist in the learning process. In addition to surgical content, EyeTube is a valuable resource for comprehensive and up-to-date product information and demonstrations. EyeTube officially launches in January 2008.
As always, we welcome and encourage your feedback and suggestions, and certainly, your loyalty.
