i2k Retina
Topcon Medical Systems, Inc. (Oakland, NJ),
recently signed an exclusive global licensing
agreement for i2k Retina (DualAlign LLC; Clifton
Park, NY), a software that enables the registration
and high-precision alignment of retinal
photographs. The agreement allows Topcon to
sell i2K Retina and integrate it with Topcon's
image management system, EyeRoute; and
Topcon's digital imaging system, IMAGEnet.
According to company literature, i2k Retina enables the creation of wide field-of-view mosaics of color fundus images, allowing an optimal view of the retina in a single, seamless display. The software can register and align retinal photographs regardless of which technology was used to capture the photographs or when the photographs were taken. i2k Retina can also align and stabilize fluorescein images of the retina over the stages of circulator filling and can be used to combine color fundus images with fluorescein images, linking the surface appearance to the blood flow images.
Stellaris PC Vision
Enhancement System
The Stellaris PC (Procedural Choice) Vision Enhancement
System (Bausch + Lomb, Rochester, NY) is a combined vitrectomy
and phacoemulsification system. According to
company literature, the Stellaris PC, which replaced Bausch
+ Lomb's Millennium Microsurgical System, is a versatile
system that combines a sleek design, a small footprint, and
a wireless footpedal with dual linear control. The device is
designed for simplicity and efficiency for easier and faster
setup times and less congestion in the OR. The vitreoretinal
surgical system comes with xenon and mercury lamp types and
surgeon-selected color filters that allow differentiated viewing
of ocular tissue under various surgical conditions. Additionally,
the Stellaris PC is capable of 1.8-mm microincision cataract
surgery phacoemulsification, and it can be used with the
company's transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy 25-gauge
system of instruments for retinal surgery along with 23- and
standard 20-gauge instruments. It also comes with Bausch +
Lomb's Stable Chamber tubing system for high vacuum levels
without compromising the stability of the chamber and
overall safety.
